5 Ways To Get The Designer Look For Less

This post was sponsored by Wayfair.

Designer look for less

With spring just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share my top 5 tips to give your home the designer look for less.

1. Add Indoor Plants

Spring is a great time to freshen up your interior with plants! Plants add so much life to a room whether they’re real or faux. I have several real plants in my home where there’s the most natural light, and I use faux plants in areas that don’t receive as much sunlight.

2. Update Your Light Fixtures

You’ve probably heard it said before, but think of the light fixtures in your home as the jewelry of the room. They really help to finish off a space and make it feel special. If your home came with boring builder grade light fixtures, or outdated light fixtures consider swapping them out for one’s that are more your style. Updating the light fixtures in your home make a big impact that can easily give you the designer look for less.

3. Rugs

Whether your home has carpet or hardwood floors, rugs help tie a space together to make it feel more luxurious. When choosing a rug, make sure it’s large enough to fill the space so that at least the front two legs of your furniture sits on it. This will keep your space from feeling off balance and small. For the same reason, make sure your rug isn’t too big. A good rule of thumb is to leave at least a foot of space between the edge of the rug and the wall.

4. Art

Whether it’s one oversized piece of art or a gallery wall, art adds lots of personality and design to a space. Art doesn’t have to be expensive to give your home the designer look. Choose art that speaks to you, and look for ways to add some art into each room in your home. From your kitchen to your bathroom and everywhere in-between.

5. Mirrors

Mirrors are another inexpensive way to get the designer look for less. Try adding a large mirror to a room to bounce light around and make the room look larger. Add a mirror to your entry way, gallery wall, or update the builder grade mirrors in your bathroom.
