Here’s A Chic & Fresh Way To Style Buffalo Check

Buffalo Check Skirt

Buffalo check is such a classic for winter! I’ve owned this skirt for YEARS (last seen here & here) and typically wear it at least once each winter. This year, I decided to update my favorite winter print with some chic new accessories.

Outfit Details: Madewell Top, Urban Outfitters Skirt Old (similar here, here & here). Zaful Beret (similar here, & here), Modmopolitan Purse c/o, Gucci Belt, Unisa Boots

Black beret
BERET

Berets have been trending for the past two years and in that time they’ve become a staple in my wardrobe. They’re not only chic but, they do a great job of keeping my head warm too. Pairing a beret with my buffalo check skirt gives a fresh take on this classic winter outfit.

Buffalo Check Skirt
HIGH WAISTED SKIRT

I purchased this skirt quite a while ago. At the time it wasn’t trendy to wear high waisted skirts/pants so this skirt actually sits just above my hips. In order to make my skirt more current, I wore a belt as tightly as I could so the skirt would sit higher up on my waist.

STYLE TIP

So many trends depend on how lose or tight, high or low, or how long or short a garment is. If you can tweak it, it’ll save you the trouble of having to purchase a new piece. Try cuffing a pair of pants to create a shorter hemline, or un-cuff a pair of pants you now wish were longer. Also, try wearing a belt to make your skirts sit higher on your waist like I did here. If you wish a top was shorter try tucking the bottom edge of the shirt under your bra to create a shorter hemline.

GUCCI BELT

I picked up this belt two years ago and it quickly became my go-to. The black belt and gold buckle match just about everything. Plus, this trendy belt not only allows me to wear my skirt higher up on my waist, but gives a fresh look to a skirt I’ve owned for years.

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

I’ve worn my OTK boots with this skirt before, but wearing my skirt higher up on my waist makes this combination feel fresh. Plus, my OTK boots are a chic way to stay warm and they pair so nicely with a beret!

My Mother’s Day started at 4am with a nursing baby My Mother’s Day started at 4am with a nursing baby in my arms, a toddler crawling into my bed and falling asleep on my shoulder, & a doggie sleeping across my legs. 💕 They have no idea what today is, but I’m feeling so blessed to be surrounded by all my babies on Mother’s Day 👶🐶👧 Even if it was at 4am 🥱

Not pictured our dog Sydney. 🐶 I’m so tired I didn’t even notice until after we got these pictures 🤪 I knew I was forgetting something! 🙈

After laboring at home for 2 hours we JUST made it to the hospital maybe 45 minutes before he came out with 2 quick pushes! It all happened so fast my head is still spinning. 🥹

So thankful my SIL @thedivinemissem77 answered her phone and came quickly to stay with Audrey & my hubby @npbrady9 taking care of everything else as we rushed to the hospital. ♥️ God is so good & we couldn’t be happier with the newest member of our family 🤗
