Ever wonder what to wear to a fall wedding? Read on to get my tips for not only what to wear, but how to look and feel your best too.

JEWEL TONE COLORS
When it comes to what to wear to a fall wedding think bold rich jewel tone colors like navy, red, yellow, dark green, and burgundy just to name a few. I chose this dress (similar dress that comes in several colors) for that exact reason.
LONG SLEEVES
I love dresses with long sleeves all year round but especially in the fall and winter months. If you’re concerned about getting too warm a delicate lace sleeve version is a great option.
VELVET, SATIN, & LACE
For fall weddings I like to choose dresses that are made from thicker fabrics like velvet, satin, or lace. Although this lace dress isn’t very warm, the extra layer of lace gives it a more fall appropriate look.
WEAR THE RIGHT UNDERGARMENTS
This tip applies to any occasion, but it’s especially important for formal ones. The wrong undergarment(s) will make even the most expensive outfit look cheap. For my open back dress I tried layering a skin tone camisole underneath, but it awkwardly cut across the sweetheart neckline. To fix my problem I found this strapless/backless bra on Amazon for less than $12 and problem solved. My dress now looks great from all angles!
Also, remember to remove (if they won’t stay put) or tuck in the ribbons that hang from the inside shoulders of most garments. Nothing is worse than walking around with those hanging out.
LIPSTICK TIP FOR DRY LIPS
I get so many questions about what lipstick I’m wearing (currently I’m wearing Lost In Love) followed up quickly by “I don’t wear lipstick because it dries out my lips”. I was in the exact same boat until earlier this year when I read a tip that changed everything! All I do is place a thick opaque layer of lotion across my lips. Next, I do all of my makeup except for my lips. By that time most of the lotion has already sunk into my lips giving them lots of extra moisture. Any access lotion I just wipe off with my finger, or scrub off with a lip scrub before applying lipstick. It works like a charm!
Incase you’re curious why I prefer a lip pencil over lipstick it’s because I find it stays in place longer and I like the sharp edge I get from using a pencil. Sometimes I’ll layer a lipstick or lip gloss directly over the lip pencil for a layered look.
How beautiful is this vanity setup at the Fairmont Chicago?! Wishing I had this at home.
WEAR SOMETHING YOU’ll FEEL COMFORTABLE IN
And last but not least wear something you’ll not only look great in but feel great wearing as well. Especially if you plan on dancing the night away. That tip doesn’t apply just to dresses but shoes, accessories (like earrings), and undergarments too!
