Rediscovered Series – Ombre Infinity Scarves

New to DarkPlum’s Rediscovered Series Ombre t-shirt scarves in charcoal & lavender, blue, lavender, and red. They sold out at the Merry Treasures DIY Holiday Bazaar and I have now gathered enough white tees from local thrift stores to make several more.

Made from 100% cotton white t-shirts each scarf contains two recycled XL mens shirts that are hand dyed with all-purpose Rit dye.
The inspiration for these scarves came when I wanted to create more repurposed items to sell at the Merry Treasures DIY Holiday Bazaar back in December.

I made a t-shirt scarf out of a solid blue shirt but I wanted to find a way to make it more special. And my husband being the sweetheart  that he is offered to give me all the t-shirts he didn’t wear because they were too small. He had a whole drawer filled with solid white tees. In wondering what I could do with them the idea came for me to dye them using the ombre technique. For those who may not know ombre is a French term meaning shaded with colors graduating form light to dark.

I think my favorite is the one you were wearing today, the charcoal and lavender one, but I have to say all the scarfs look great!

I love the charcoal & lavender scarf too! It tuned out to be a happy accident. I think the lavender dye stayed in the bucket I was using from a previous time and mixed with the black dye I used to make that scarf. I hope I can recreate this again and maybe do the same thing with other colors.
